Purpose built accommodation
Denton Holme Student Village consists of 25 stylish town houses which accommodates either 9 or 12 students. Each house has 2 or 3 floors with four bedrooms and two bathrooms rooms on each floor. One en-suite room is available in each 9 bedroom house.
Fully furnished rooms
Each bedroom comes complete with 3 foot by 7 foot bed, under bed storage, a wardrobe with full length mirror, study desk and chair, drawers, a bedside table, a mesh bin and shelving unit above desk.
The communal areas have a fully fitted kitchen and each living area comes with sofas, dining table and chairs, and a wall mounted television, ideal for socialising with your flatmates. The site is on a direct bus route to the Brampton Road Campus and is only a 20 minute walk from the Fusehill Street Campus, making it the perfect location.

How close is the University?
Fusehill Street Campus is a 25 minute walk away from Denton Holme Student Village, Brampton Road Campus is a 35 minute walk. There are regular buses to both campuses.
How far is the City Centre?
You can be in Carlisle City Centre with an easy 15 minute walk.
Where is the nearest supermarket?
There’s a good choice of supermarkets – Aldi is just a 10 minute walk away, Tesco is a 15 minute walk, and Sainsbury is a 20 minute walk.
Is there a medical centre or hospital close by?
The Accident & Emergency Hospital is around 1 mile away, and can be reached by bus.
Where is the nearest Police Station?
The nearest police station is two miles away, a 45 minute walk.
Where is the nearest post office?
A 10-15 minute walk away above the WH Smith shop in the town centre.
Where is the nearest gym?
There are two gyms within a 20 minute walk.
How far are the bus and train stations?
The bus station is about 20 minutes’ walk away, and the train station is about 15 minutes’ walk away in town.
Where is the nearest bus stop?
The bus to town stops directly outside the site.

Denton Holme Student Village is just a 15 minute walk from Carlisle City Centre – with all of the bars and clubs on hand
What is in my room?
Your room is fully furnished with: a 3/4 bed (with underbed storage), bedside table, desk, chair, wardrobe, shelving, three drawer lockable unit and two noticeboards.
Do I need to bring my own bedding?
Yes, you’ll need to bring all your own bedding and towels etc., however we do offer a starter pack which you can pre-order before you arrive, that will be ready in your room on move in day.
What cooking facilities are there?
Kitchens come equipped with: cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, kettle, toaster, iron and ironing board, mop and bucket, and vacuum cleaner. You will need to provide your own crockery and cooking utensils. Starter packs are available to pre-order before you arrive – you’ll be able to purchase these in our online booking system, or you can let us know anytime by phone or email and your starter pack will be ready for your arrival.
Can I bring a pet?
Sorry, pets are not permitted in any of our houses or flats.
Can I personalise my room?
A large pin board is provided in the bedroom for posters. We ask that you don’t attach anything to your walls or ceilings as any damage caused will be chargeable.
Do I need a TV license?
There is a TV in the communal area of each town house which Denton Holme pay for. If you want to watch/stream live TV in your own room you will need to purchase your own TV license.
Can I have guests to stay?
Yes of course! We do have to limit guests to a maximum of 2 nights a week, however, and you’ll need to sign them in at reception for security reasons.
Can I bring my car?
We have parking spaces which are allocated on a first-come first-served basis. The cost is £100 per term but there is a discount if you pay your whole year upfront (£275). Please let us know if you would like to book a parking space in our online booking form.
Is there anywhere I can store my bike?
We have three secure bike stores on the site.
Can I change my room?
You can request to move, but this will depend on availability. Please note that there is a £50 admin fee for each person who is moving to a new room.
Day to day living
From where do I collect my post?
Each house has a letter box with its own key. We can accept parcels at The Hub for you, but we ask that you let us know if you are expecting something.
What about maintenance issues?
You can report any maintenance issues directly from your mobile device or computer, including sending us photos so we can best respond. You’re also welcome of course to visit reception and report any issue there.
Where can I do my laundry?
There is an on-site laundry room that is accessible 24 hours a day.
Who cleans my flat?
You are responsible for cleaning your room and for cleaning your communal areas with your flatmates. Approximately every 5 weeks our cleaning team will deep clean every house, including extractor hoods, shower rooms, fridges, skirting boards etc.
Can I store my possessions in the summer?
We can store things depending on circumstances. There is a £50 charge for storage.
Can I book for summer?
Yes, we can take summer bookings depending on availability. Rent for the summer period must be paid before the end of the academic year and before the summer stay commences. Please see the team for more information.
Can I arrive early?
Please contact the site team to check whether your room will be vacated and cleaned by the time you want to arrive. There will be an extra charge for early arrivals.
What about safety and security on site?
We have an on-site security guard who is there between 22:00 – 03:00 Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Sunday and between 22:00 – 05:00 Thursday/Friday/Saturday. The site is also covered by CCTV 24/7.
